As families plan their Thanksgiving celebrations a new children’s book suggests that another set of historical facts about where it took place, what was eaten and an extra sweet helping of an ‘attitude of gratitude,’ all be added to our national menu.
This colorful picture book celebrates the history of America’s first English-Speaking Thanksgiving ceremony at Berkeley Plantation in Virginia. Its aim is to give focus to gratitude as an essential quality of American life for children and adults.
The book is well-wished and praised in letters from Broadway Composer Lin-Manuel Miranda and the First Lady of Virginia for its championing of Virginia’s history and “the beauty and strength of diversity.”
